Did $700 seem insanely expensive in 2006? Absolutely. Fact is, this the Zeppelin Classic roadcase all over again. maybe too high for the EP and $81 for Frances is kinda pricey). You can complain about the high price of the box ($27 a record, which actually seems reasonable. These are the guys who went to the trouble of doing a full-blown remaster/repress of Relationship Of Command just to sell a few thousand copies in 2013 before letting it go OOP again. These are the guys who made MOV stop repressing De-Loused and then spent SEVEN YEARS not doing reissues. That's why I don't foresee $30 copies of De-Loused or Bedlam being available for years from Amazon for anyone who wants it. They tend to sell lavish packages at high prices (Frances was almost $50 at retail, again expensive for the time) and don't bother with cheaper represses that stay in print. Omar and Cedric have always been a bit "out of touch" when it comes to reasonable pricing for their vinyl. And with Mars Volta, we're talking about a group where a silver picture disc of De-Loused (which initially sold for $35 retail, an expensive price in 2003) now goes for $300-400. Click to expand.Well, if you said "less than 24 hours in the U.S.," then congrats.Īnd of course it shouldn't be about price inflation, BUT invariably all this limited stuff-whether it's DCC pressings or gold MoFi CDs or RSD colored vinyl-tends to skyrocket in price if demand is there.
